Draft of an Untitled Story

"Princess." A voice awakened me. I opened my eyes to see an older woman, dressed in a Victorian maid uniform, standing at my bedside. Her off pink lips smiled, "Its time to wake up. You have a full schedule today." She holds the tablet up and her eyes examined it. She nodded her head once she was done taking in the information on the screen.

"O-Ok." I sit up. She sets the tablet down on the dresser beside my bed. Her old working hands tore away the covers and I swing my legs over the bed. She helps me down from my grand bed and leads me to the bathroom, where a hot bath awaits. I slip into the porcelain tub and she rolls up her sleeves.

"What am I going to be doing today?" I ask her curiously. "Today you will be attending at least three balls, all held in the Rogoue Area. One garden party with Princess Agitha, Princess Luna and Princess Motorio." She tells me as she begins to scrub my arms. Princess Motorio?

Suddenly the boyish image comes to mind. Her short hair, that large goofy smile and that tomboy personality. I've only met her a few times and each of those times she was jamming out on her iPod. Though I've heard from the regular gossip that she's really good friends with the Crown Royal Princess and Prince. I gave out a soft snort. That's probably the reason why they've invited her. To get close to those that rule our entire world. How typical.

But the question I wonder is why do they invite me? I'm nothing more than missing heir that was supposedly found.

The maid continues to wash my body, drenching it in hot water and soap. When she was done, I got out. She dried me off and dressed me in a beige ruffled dress.

I'm still not used to wearing such fancy dresses or having my hair combed. Nor my skin decorated with jewelry. Suddenly the tablet begins to ring and the maid presses the green button. She holds it up to me and there I see my dad, The king, on FaceTime. He is dressed in that ugly royal attire that didn't match his crown. Though his beard covered half of his top lip, I can still see him smile happily.

"Sweetheart! So you are awake! How are you this morning?" His gruffy voice asked. "Im...well." I shrug awkwardly. "That's good to hear! I'm still a bit worried about you. I know this is extremely difficult for you. Fitting in with the royals after being held captive by that damned witch who kidnapped you!" I bit down on my lip. I wanted to say something, interject and put him in his place. Tell him that she isn't some damned witch. But I couldn't. I'm not allowed too. "It must've been awful!" he continued to say. "Yeah awful." I spat out. "I'm so glad your home sweetheart. With us. I wish your mother was here with us." "I do too." I nod my head. "Anyway, I'll be home shortly! Enjoy the parties and make some friends. Try to forget everything that has happened ok?" "Yes, dad," I reply. "I love you." He tells me.

Those three words pierced through my heart. Setting off an eruption throughout my entire body. Those were the same words she told me, before sending me here. To the world of humans. "You too." I try to smile. The call ends and my smile dies.

"Are you alright Princess?" the maid asks. I sigh, "I'm fine. I just need some food." I tell her. "Of course. We have a lovely six-course meal waiting for you downstairs." She says. "Thank you." I nod my head. She escorted me out of my room and down the hallway.

As I wobbled down the lengthy hall, my mind began to replay the events of that simple day. I remember her voice calling out for me while I was in my bedroom. I was reading that book that was bigger than a printer. When she called me, I never expected anything else than her asking where she left her phone. Or what was for dinner tonight. I never expected that, that was the day, my life would become absolutely normal.
